Winter Storm

We had a major storm come thru on Monday night. There were trees down all over and we had wind gusts of 75+ miles per hour.
We were without electricity for 17+ hours. The school was without power for a second day so the kids had another snow day. We received 10 - 12 inches of snow which ended up being 2 snow days.
It was a major incredible storm. Trees, electric, phone and cable lines were down all over. It took them a week to get all things back to normal and there are still trees laying around.
The roads were horrible for 24 hours but all is now back to normal. Thank God that in our town there were no storm related deaths.

When it Rains it Pours!

Today Andrew went to school and about an hour after school started the nurse called and said that he came in from playing and his eye was hurting, red and swollen. He said he didn't hurt it but it felt like something was in it. She washed it out and it didn't get better so hubby went to pick him up. He brought him back to work and his eye looked like someone decked him but it didn't look like pink eye or anything. I thought it was some type of allergy. I called the eye doctor and they said they would fit him in. I took him in and he has a viral infection in his eye. Not pink eye but it is still contageous and he needs to be careful for the next couple of weeks. He gave him eye drops and said if it gets worse to call right away.
Tomorrow is my appointment with Riley to see what will happen with his arm. I keep hoping it is just a break that can be casted and it will heal without surgery. I don't want him to have life long problems if he can get away without it and I think pins and screws are asking for trouble later on.

Riley finally has a doctors appointment.

Heard from the doctors office today and they are waiting until Friday to see Riley on his broken wrist. I am really surprised they are waiting so long. It will be a week on Friday since he broke it. It seems like such a long time. I would have thought they would have at least looked at the xrays to see what they thought but they didn't feel it was necessary. So I guess I won't know until Friday if and when he will have surgery. Hopefully not on his birthday which is on Tuesday. They said they wanted the swelling to go down and it is still pretty swollen so I guess they have a good reason. I am really nervous to find out what they are going to do and how bad the damage is. I am hoping not too bad and that he will just have to have a cast. Wishful thinking I suppose but it sure would be easier and cheaper and a whole lot less painful. Well I will keep you posted on any further developments.
